This is the OnePlus 5T in the picture above. The phone hasn’t even been announced yet by OnePlus officially — that is scheduled for November 16th. That is 6 days from the time of writing this. ZDNet Germany in a rather bold move published a story that leaked photos of the device, the unboxing paraphernalia, and the reviewers guide specification sheets. The specification sheets are in English — a lot of information was leaked to the whole internet.

In the picture to the left we have the unboxing experience. Looks pretty standard when it comes to OnePlus packaging and box design. OnePlus company colors are red and white — so it follows suit that the box, charging cable, and fast charging brick are clothed in the OnePlus brand colors. It’s just too bad that OnePlus didn’t use the 5T as an opportunity to add wireless charging to their distinguishing feature offerings. Smartphones are largely stagnant right now, so the little details set smartphones apart — all the big details are covered already. On our left again, we have some pictures of the setup process and notification panel as the device personalizes itself and retrieves a device configuration backup that essentially transfers the user experience this particular reviewer had set up on their last phone. On the left now, we have a comparison of the 5 and the 5T from the back of both frames. The 5T is branded as the same design as the 5 with updated internal specifications to compete with more recent handsets like the Note 8, iPhone X, and Pixel 2. I’m not sure how well it’s working — the 3T upset a lot of 3 owners last year. I’m expecting a similar response this year, although not as severe because we’ve known about the 5T in leaks ahead of launch — and it follows a familiar pattern from last year’s OnePlus offerings. Looking at the reviewer specification sheet images on the left — we can understand and read most or all of it. Right off the bat, dimensions and weight is divulged. The operating system is Android 7.1.1 Nougat. It has a Snapdragon 835 CPU coupled with Adreno 540 GPU. RAM is 6GB or 8GB depending on your configuration. The battery is 3,300 mAh with Dash Charge. This is all familiar stuff from the OnePlus 5, where are the changes? Oh, this is weird. I can’t find any actual changes. Drop a line below if you spot any device changes that are different from the OnePlus 5. Long story short, this is the OnePlus 5T. On the bright side, it has also been leaked that the price is going to be exactly the same as the OnePlus 5. Taking that into account, this is basically the same phone as the 5 but with some re-branding, fanfare, and an excuse to sell more devices.
