Self-Sovereign Identity Technologies: Sovrin, XDI, and others

“In the last few years, interest in “self-sovereign identity” has strongly increased. The ambitious goal is to overcome the current large Internet monopolies, to build digital identity infrastructure that better mirrors our real-life society, and to give individuals full control over their digital selves in a way that is decentralized and privacy preserving. We will introduce the background of this idea and focus on some concrete technologies in this space, such as the Sovrin Identity Ledger, the XDI and RDF/Solid semantic data protocols, and others. We will discuss what we can do on the technology level to help the idea of self-sovereign identity and privacy in the digital age.”
