Heard of our latest virtual hackathon yet? If not, it’s called the Octane Hackathon and focuses on the future of software development using, you guessed it, ALM Octane. The hackathon has a lot of cool elements already — being global, virtual, and with $10K in tech-dream prizes….

BUT! In case you need a small nudge, especially if you’re new to the world of ALM octane… we put together a little list for you.

So, here is why you should be excited about HPE’s ALM Octane:

  1. First off, ALM stands for Application Lifecycle Management. It’s essentially a solution to help you define, build, test, and deliver applications fast and with confidence across the entire Software Development Life Cycle.

2. It’s FAST (hint, hint: Octane). Being easy to use and quick to implement is the key here. The whole platform is built around accelerating business success. And in a hackathon, speediness is key so this just seems like a match made in heaven!

3. The dashboard focuses in on five key areas, keeping it simple and easy to figure out. Those are: coding, testing, risk management, risk assessment, and aligning to the requirements.

It’s all centered around single dashboard bringing together key data on requirements to make it easy for project managers to spot their most pressing problems.

4. Assets are sharable and reusable, which can improve efficiency, consistency, and traceability by sharing and reusing requirements and asset libraries across multiple projects.

5. It integrates with other HPE and open source tools! Phew.

Check out more on all of that here, and register for the hackathon (it’s FREE, you can hack from anywhere, and it’ll just be plain ol’ fun!).

Not to mention — there’s over $10,000 worth(!!) of stuff to give out, and let’s face it, everyone wants a prize for something they can do from their couch, right? Right.
