The BlackBoard LMS General Orientation was held last January 23, 2021. It was divided into two batches. The YS 8 and YS10 learners and parents were oriented at 8:00–10:00 a.m., while the YS 9 and YS 11 learners and parents were scheduled at 1:00–3:00 p.m. An interesting clip showed the typical day of an HSP learner in the school together with his facilitators and classmates.

Ms. Christine Redublado, an English Facilitator and YS-10 Moderator, hosted the program. Ms. Redublado gave an overview on how the UST Angelicum College Home Study Program was conceptualized as a system that meets the educational needs of learners who cannot be physically present in a usual classroom set-up. The said program then continuously accommodated learners who get displaced from schooling due to health reasons, family situations, and other personal reasons.

The Blackboard LMS is the common platform used in all schools under the Dominican Province of the Philippines (DPPI). Some of these schools have started using it at the start of A.Y. 2020–2021 in an effort to enhance the e-learning initiatives of its member schools and maximize the potentials of digital learning. All learners in the Home Study Program from YS 8 to YS 11 will start using the Blackboard LMS starting January 25, 2021.

The opening prayer was led by Ms. Tracy Ong, CLE Facilitator and YS 10 Moderator. Ms. Paula Jane Magsalin, AP Facilitator and YS-9 Moderator, led the singing of the Pambansang Awit. As part of her welcome remarks, Ms. Jeannette E. Antazo, HSP Coordinator, invited everyone to capture another milestone of UST Angelicum HSP.

Topics on how to use the system were discussed to the learners and their parents by the following learning facilitators:

The step-by-step procedure on how to access the BB LMS with an actual demonstration was given by Ms. Aimee Kimberly Puente, Math Learning Facilitator and YS 11 Moderator.

The policies and guidelines were discussed by Ms. Rowelyn De Jesus, Science Learning Facilitator and YS 11 Moderator.

Hands-on subjects in the HSP Program for subjects like Music, Arts, P.E., and Health (MAPEH); Home Education and Livelihood Education (HELE); Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE); Computer, Speech, and Science Laboratory were explained by Ms. Catherine C. Dizon, Member of the Team Principal.

Questions from the learners and parents were answered by Ms. Aimee Puente and Ms. Rowelyn De Jesus.

For her closing remarks, Ms. Irene B. Gopez, Member of the Team Principal, reassured everyone that just like the old homegrown LMS, the BB LMS will be available 24/7 to assist the learners.

The closing prayer was led by Mr. Marvin Froy Ate, Filipino Learning Facilitator.
