Announcing Intros for Canada: Get intros to top angels
Today, we’re announcing Intros for Canada, a new way for Canadian startups to meet world-class angels like Dan Debow (co-founder of Rypple), Tikhon Bernstam (co-founder of Parse) and Matt Humphrey (co-founder of LendingHome).
Canadian startups like Drop Loyalty and InkBox have already raised over $2M with syndicates since the Canadian launch in late 2016. Intros will make it even easier for Canadian founders to meet great angels and raise money for their company. In fact, Intros works just like the first AngelList product launched in 2010, where angels were introduced to startups like Uber and Thumbtack.
Canada has great entrepreneurs and leads the way in many markets. AI research by Geoffrey Hinton and Yoshua Bengio has lead to over 400 Canadian companies, including Maluuba and Element AI. And companies in the Toronto/Waterloo area include Ethereum, Shopify, Hubba and Thalmic Labs.
Founders backing founders
The participating angels all have successful operating or investing experience, and are looking to invest in Canadian startups. The angels come from the US and Canada, and have invested in more than 400 companies. Their portfolio companies have collectively raised over $10B in follow-on financing from investors like Sequoia Capital, Benchmark and Andreessen Horowitz.
How Intros works
Founders can apply at angel.co/canada/intros. All applications are reviewed within 10 days and high-quality startups are interviewed. Qualifying startups will be introduced to a curated group of angel investors who typically invest between $250K and $2M in companies they like. Intros is fast, private and free for startups (and angels).
