Hello Color Genomics
It’s been a busy and energizing six weeks since we announced #Angels, and we are delighted to share news about our first group investment. But first, we want to say thank you for the immense outpouring of excitement and support we’ve received from founders, fellow operators, and investors. Furthermore, we are in awe of the diversity of problems that start-ups are tackling and the ambition with which teams are doing so. We wish we had time to meet with every team who has reached out to us, and look forward to talking with more founders and investors in time.
We are delighted to announce Color Genomics as our first #Angels investment. The company is led by Othman Laraki and Elad Gil, two exceptional serial entrepreneurs with whom we were lucky to work closely at Twitter. Their mission is audacious and meaningful: democratize access to high-quality genetic information. And, just today, they’ve launched their breast and ovarian cancer genetic risk test for $249. Their goal is to expand physician-supported access to breast and ovarian cancer genetic risk information for every person, everywhere. They are a great team of technologists and scientists tackling an important problem, with a clear vision and plan for how to do so: exactly the kind of team we at #Angels want to back. Not all of our investments will have full participation of the group but this one was unanimous, so each of us (April Underwood, Chloe Sladden, Katie Stanton, Jana Messerschmidt, Vijaya Gadde, and Jessica Verrilli) invested. You can learn more about Color, in their own words, here and we think you’ll see why we’re excited to back them.
For our part, we’re still just getting started. We’re thrilled to be supporting Color Genomics as our first investment and excited for what’s to come.
