Follow this step-by-step process of how to hand draw custom GIFS and videos.

All artwork in this post was created by Ian Ball, aka, Psychrome

Ian Ball, aka, Psychrome, is an animator, illustrator, and all-around creative person based in Bristol, UK. We initially were introduced to his work when we saw him post this video online for Nike Air Max Day in 2018, almost one year ago. Needless to say, we were blown away. To this day, it is one of our favorite animations EVER MADE! So if you haven’t seen it, check it out.

So when we were introduced to Psychrome, we started to pay attention. A couple months later, he blew our minds again. This time, by creating little hand drawn GIFs, and turning them into stickers for social media.

We want to share his step by step process, to give everyone the opportunity to make their own custom stickers.

Step 1. Draw a simple animation in Animatic.

Step 2. Send the animation to your computer. Ian uses Photoshop to color it up, and remove the background.

Step 3. Export as a GIF, upload it to GIPHY, await approval. If you don’t have GIPHY, tag us or email us, and we’ll help get the stickers loaded!

Step 4: Upload to Instagram

You can check out a bunch of Ian’s stickers by tapping the GIF button and searching for “Psychrome” in your Instagram Story (also available in Twitter, iMessage, Snap, and Facebook!) One of which is a Nike Air Max sneaker from that original video we saw! Celebrate this years Nike Air Max day on March 26th, by sharing the Psychrome sticker!
