INTRODUCTION
Time travel stories are not easy to pull off. It’s hard to execute this genre because when the focus is on plot consistency, the story tends to be intellectual, but bland. If the emphasis is put on excitement, however, the story elements can be jeopardized.
The Girl Who Leapt Through Time is a movie that balanced the two. Though I found the beginning slow, the story progression was rewarding and thought-provoking.
As with most time-travel shows, its message pertains to the consequences of meddling with the past.
Changing the past to get what we want may not always bring a good outcome.
PLOT
Makoto Konno is in her last year of high school, but she still doesn’t know what to do with her future. Her life changes when she accidentally discovers she’s capable of time leaping. She can’t change or alter time, but she can go back to the past at will.
The story revolves around her misfortunes and her attempts to use her power to get what she wants. However, she soon…
