Why Garden Of Light Should Have An Anime Adaptation
On Living With Grief
INTRODUCTION
This year hasn’t been the easiest.
In January, I was laid off from my job. Then in mid-year, I lost two beloved family members.
Consequently, I was in survival mode most of the time, but when things slowed down, I found time to grieve what I lost along the way.
A few months ago, I started a new job where I had to work until 2am, and as with late nights, there’s something about the wee hours of the morning that just makes you contemplate life.
For some reason, I remembered the Banana Fish franchise, particularly, Garden of Light. I have read this story before, but reading it again during that crack of dawn gave me the peace I so longed for.
Garden of Light is about grief and how its characters live with loss. As my year was filled with the same things, I found consolation in revisiting this story.
PLOT
Garden of Light takes place seven years after the end of Banana Fish.
