INTRODUCTION & PLOT

High school student Reki is passionate about skateboarding.

Every night, he heads to “S,” an illegal underground race in a mine where skaters compete in dangerous situations.

After he loses a match, his arm and skateboard end up broken. Because of his injury, Reki is now unable to practice.

At work, Reki runs into his new classmate, Langa, a half-Canadian and half-Japanese person with no skateboarding experience.

As they both visit “S” again, prompted by Reki’s boss, they get forced into a bet that requires Langa to race.

Langa, however, possesses a talent Reki is unaware of and surprises everyone most unexpectedly.

THOUGHTS

Despite its lighthearted tone, SK8 the Infinity addressed the sad reality that passion doesn’t always equate to talent.

You may love, practice and dedicate yourself to a craft but not possess the natural aptitude to be the greatest at it.
