INTRODUCTION

I first discovered Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End when it dethroned Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood as the top rated show in MyAnimeList.

Though that should’ve drawn me in, it didn’t click back then.

When I returned to it this year, I saw it in a different light and finally understood why it resonated with so many.

I regret that I only got into Frieren now, but I guess some stories simply connect to us at the right time.

PLOT & THOUGHTS

At its heart, Frieren asks: What happens after the hero’s journey ends?

After ten years together, the Hero party: Himmel, Heiter, Eisen, and Frieren defeat the Demon King.

Then, they part ways.

For Frieren, an elf who’s lived over a thousand years, that decade was just a brief moment in her life. She moves on, unchanged.
