1. Your Name (Kimi no Na wa)

Wholesome Anime — Kimi no Na wa
Kimi no Na wa

Episode: Movie

Genre: Supernatural, Romance, Fantasy, Drama

Mitsuha Miyamizu, a teenager is a high school girl living in the town of Itomori. Mitsuha is bored with her small-town life thus in her next life wishes to be a handsome Tokyo boy.

She begins to swap bodies intermittently with Taki Tachibana, a high school boy in Tokyo when they wake up. They used to chat by writing messages on paper, phones, and sometimes even on each other’s skin.

Mitsuha’s latest note tells Taki about the comet Tiamat expected to pass
Earth on the day of her town festival. The next day, Taki wakes up in his body, he tries to call Mitsuha, but cannot reach her, and the body-switching ends.

Not knowing the town’s name he has to rely on his memories of the scenery, he decides to meet her. He goes out in search of Mitsuha and finds out a mysterious truth about her and the town.

Those who are watching this movie for the first time might find it difficult
to understand. Overall it is an amazing movie with excellent animation.

It is actually the best wholesome anime ever and I suggest everyone watch it to have a wholesome experience.

GATE — Most Wholesome Anime

Episodes: 24

Genre: Fantasy

Look at the majesty, it’s such a beauty of the fabric, the hard reflectiveness. Somewhere in Japan, there is this mysterious magical gateway that leads to a rather stereotypical fantasy universe where people still fight with bows and arrows.

There are some elves here and there and the occasional magic user. Japan ends up sending in a stereotypical otaku to defend the locals leading to many jokes about his particular taste in the local female population.

A fun fact about the author of the GATE, he was originally a JSDF grunt himself and incorporates a lot of realistic military INFO into the show. I adore the concept and idea behind GATE but the way it went about is rather stupid at times.

3. Wise Man’s Grandchild

Wise Man’s Grandchild — Wholesome Heartwarming Anime
Wise Man’s Grandchild

Episodes: 12

Genre: Magic, Comedy, Fantasy, Romance

In a modern world, a lonely man dies and reincarnates in another world. Rescued as a baby from a tragedy by a brilliant sage named ‘Merlin’, the baby raised as ‘Shin Wolford’ goes under magic and martial arts training to kill the monsters and demons around.

At 15 years old of age, he had already become extremely powerful, but his grandfather forgot to teach him the common sense of this world. A general theme for wholesome anime that will bring you happiness and blow your mind.

4. Anohana

Episodes: 11

Genre: Supernatural, Drama, Slice of life

This show focuses on a group of friends who drifted apart after the death of one of their friends, Meiko aka Menma. The spirit of the girl returns for reasons you don’t realize in the beginning.

The only person that can actually see her is the leader of the group, Jintan, who has become a loner and basically seems like he has given up on lots of things in life after the death of Menma.

In his childhood days, he used to be like the awesomest ever. Be careful Jintan. So the story moves on with the friends trying to figure out what could be Menma’s wish so she can rest in heaven.

This show is another roller coaster of emotions flying everywhere which will definitely make you cry. Why hasn’t Menma moved on yet? What has kept Menma from going to heaven? It is sort of sad but still, it makes you so happy and nostalgic at the same time.

I cannot say what you feel about this anime but for me, Anohana is the most heartwarming wholesome anime I have ever watched.

5. Danmachi

Heartwarming Anime — Danmachi

Episodes: 37 + 3 OVAs

Genre: Action, Adventure, Comedy, Fantasy

Overall, Danmachi was a pretty darn good anime and has the same feel as an isekai or game anime (although it isn’t).

Bell’s struggle to level up and become strong enough to face is actually very fun to watch, although I wish he wasn’t only doing it for a girl.

6. The Devil is a Part-Timer

The Devil is a Part-Timer
The Devil is a Part-Timer

Episodes: 13

Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Romance

As the show’s title says, The devil is really a part-timer. You don’t get to see a Demon Lord working in Mc Donalds to keep up with his rents and food.

The anime is filled with comedy and action. It gives a very refreshing experience. It’s a slice-of-life comedy with elements of fantasy but most importantly it’s not set in a school.

The story follows Sadao Maou, the former demon king of Ente Isla. After his defeat falling from the throne, he retreats with this General Ashiya to modern-day Japan losing all of their magical abilities in the process.

This anime is definitely the one I recommend to you the more due to its wholesomeness.

7. Aho Girl

Wholesome Anime — Aho Girl
Aho Girl

Episodes: 12

Genre: Romance, Comedy, Slice of Life

Aho Girl is a comedy anime, set in a high school about Yoshiko Hanabatake. Aho Girl is probably the funniest anime. It is about a girl that is very special everyone is going bananas over.

The characters are so likable that you’ll become a hoe and fall in love with all of them.

The idiot girl has a lot of great qualities like being able to eat a lot of bananas, being a bit too good with kids, and getting zero on all her exams.

It basically revolves around her being a complete dumbass and how the MC Akutsu reacts to it. I had to throw in this, this anime is the queen of wholesomeness.

8. Konohana Kitan

Konohana Kitan — Heartwarming Anime
Konohana Kitan

Episodes: 12

Genre: Fantasy, Slice of Life

Konohana Kitan presents the heartwarming tale of Yuzu, a cheerful simple little fox girl who starts her first job as an attendant at Konohanatei, a traditional hot springs inn.

Konohana Kitan blends cute moments with precious Yuzu and is like a hidden gem. Yuzu starts her training while meeting other fellow employees.

Yuzu steadily learns the trade of an inn attendant while she learns to love the magical world surrounding her. Nothing is more wholesome than cute girls doing cute things!

9. Blood Lad

Blood Lad
Blood Lad

Episodes: 10

Genre: Dark Comedy, Supernatural, Action

This is the story of a vampire who has zero interest in drinking human blood. Yes, you read that right.

The vampire is an otaku deeply in love with Japanese culture and mangas.

I can’t find other reasons not to watch this anime. Give it a shot and I’m sure you will love it.

10. Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou

Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou
Danshi Koukousei no Nichijou

Episodes: 12 + 8 Specials

Genre: Comedy, Slice of life

The Daily Lives of High School boys is about the monotonous grind of the normal life of high school students and is still hilariously fun.

It’s a Slice of Life shell, anime of normal boys who enjoy sitting by the riverside with a nice book and some quiet time.

It’s for doodles while on the phone and for anyone who enjoys the taste of toast in the morning. You like long walks on the beach, it’s definitely for you.

11. Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove it

Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove it
Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove it

Episodes: 12

Genre: Comedy, Romance

This anime has a unique quirk to it. it is basically a very unique spin to something like defragging or gamers but for an adult audience extending the nerdiness to one extreme to the other.

Science Fell in Love, So I Tried to Prove it, pokes a lot of fun at the lack of experience in romance situations and there is also a male to a female character so it is no coincidence that people may feel that this is similar to Kaguya.

I really like this anime, it’s comedy trying to prove love with science. Doesn’t that sound wholesome?

It is an anime with charming, romantic high school students with awkwardness and cluelessness who are inexperienced in love.

12. Trinity Seven

Trinity Seven
Trinity Seven

Episodes: 12

Genre: Comedy, Fantasy, Romance

Trinity Seven has a mediocre story, typical high-school setting, convoluted magic system.

Trinity Seven would have been completely average and forgettable if it wasn’t for its characters. Trinity Seven is an average harem carried by an astounding male lead and adorable pretty female characters.

We can see a very well-written script and the interactions of the characters with each other and their relationships.

13. Princess Connect! Re: Dive

Princess Connect! Re:Dive
Princess Connect! Re: Dive

Episodes: 13

Genre: Action, Adventure, Fantasy

Princess Connect! Re: Dive is an anime based on mobile games that have become increasingly popular over the last few years. It is a good game adaptation and a wholesome time to get invested in.

The series takes place in an unknown world. Yuuki is awakened by a mysterious Goddess only to find out that he is sent to another world to uncover the truth and return his memory.

What exactly happened to the MC is that he lost his memory and can’t remember anything.

It is the outcome of impressive work with comedy and does not think about it as some serious isekai.

14. Outbreak Company

Outbreak Company
Outbreak Company

Episodes: 12

Genre: Comedy, Fantasy

Outbreak Company is based on a fifteen volumes Light Novel of the same name and is a love letter to the media.

Otaku culture, as a medium, is often mocked as a low form of storytelling. In Outbreak Company, the doujinshi is mightier than the sword.

If our values are not the same and often times a conflict could arise for our differences.

Outbreak Company is foremost a comedy and also excels in that regard.

The comedic aspects and the stereotypes that were played out were kind of like the best.

15. Nisekoi

Nisekoi — Heartwarming Wholesome Anime

Episodes: 20 + 3 OVAs

Genre: Comedy, Harem, Fantasy, Romance

To those of you who are curious, Nisekoi means ‘fake love’.

The series is called Nisekoi (Fake Love) because the male and female characters start out in a fake relationship that is meant to maintain the peace between their respective families.

There is an animated adaptation of Nisekoi that ran for a total of 20 episodes over the course of two seasons for those who prefer wholesome anime. Wholesomeness is what I want in my life, yeah!

16. Skilled Teaser Takagi San

Skilled Teaser Takagi San
Skilled Teaser Takagi San

Episodes: 24 + 1 OVA

Genre: Romantic Comedy, Slice of Life

One of the most refreshing wholesome anime out there is Skilled Teaser Takagi San. It really lightens your mood. If you are into romance then this show is perfect for you.

You will love to see the chemistry between the character Nishikata and Takagi.

The cuteness is too much to handle. Overall a very good anime to watch

17. My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!
My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!

Episodes: 12

Genre: Harem, Comedy, Romance, Isekai

My Next Life as a Villainess follows a young girl named Katarina Klaus and she is a self-entitled spoiled girl as hell. This anime is a refreshing take on isekai genre.

The whole anime series in one sentence:

“You either die the villain or live long enough to see yourself become the hero.”

There are a hundred stories just like it never left the Manga world. The reincarnation as a villain story is so overdone that it is practically a genre of its own.

18. The Helpful Fox Senko-san

The Helpful Fox Senko-san — Heartwarming Wholesome Anime
The Helpful Fox Senko-san

Episodes: 12

Genre: Comedy, Romance, Slice of Life, Supernatural

I honestly fell in love with it. This wholesome anime soothes and helps comfy your mood. It helps me relax and is like a healing heartwarming anime.

You can watch all these anime series on various streaming platforms. The few best sites for watching anime are Crunchyroll, Funimation, Amazon Prime, Kissanime, Gogoanime, and a few more.
