1. Crypto Winter Led to 91% Plunge in VC and Other Investments for January.
-VC investments in privately held crypto startups amounted to $548 million last month, a huge drop from $6 billion in January 2022, according to data compiled by CoinDesk. The number of transactions shrank to 62 from 166, and most of the 2023 deals were for smaller, early-stage companies.

2. OpenSea Releases Suite of New Tools for Creator NFT Drops.
-The new experience allows select creators to include multi-stage minting phases, allowlist support and personalized landing pages for their NFT releases.

3. Crypto Market’s Post-Fed Rally Continues as DeFi, Smart Contract Platform Sectors Star.
-Uniswap’s UNI token and Avalanche’s AVAX token were recently up about 4.5% and 3.4%; ether rose 3% at one point Thursday a day after unexpectedly moderate comments from Fed Chair Jerome Powell.

-Barclays analyst said Coinbase volumes rose 56% in January from the previous month. Shares of crypto exchange Coinbase (COIN) jumped more than 20% on Thursday after the Federal Reserve’s latest interest rate hike and Fed Chair Jerome Powell noted progress in fighting the high rate of inflation.

-Marathon Digital (MARA), one of the largest publicly traded bitcoin miners, sold 1,500 bitcoin in January — first time ever — to monetize the recent rally in the crypto market.
