Day Breaks the Night
a poem
Day breaks
the night,
and the remnants
of the dark sky
fall
and shatter
into grey shards
on the sidewalk
and then disappear
into another world.
In my bedroom,
night slinks
into the crevices
of the floorboards
as I slowly wake.
Day balances the depth
of its brilliance
on raindrops
or cosmic specks of dust.
We totter in between
these delicate spaces,
the great world
spinning

Each breeze
that soothes our cheeks,
fills our lungs,
sets loose our minds.
We contain multitudes,
silent shifts
in thoughts,
beliefs,
