In the early 1940s, architect Aaron G. Green studied with Frank Lloyd Wright at Taliesin West and later opened his own practice in San Francisco where he also served as Mr. Wright’s West Coast representative.

Green was highly regarded by Frank Lloyd Wright who considered him a “son.”

Green worked with Wright on many of Wright’s projects including the Marin County Civic Center. When Frank Lloyd Wright died in 1959, it was architects Aaron G. Green and William Wesley Peters who oversaw the construction of Marin’s new Civic Center.

Aaron Green designed the original furnishings at the Civic Center and oversaw their production at the San Quentin State Prison furniture factory.

Green was also responsible for the space analysis and configuration of the court rooms in Marin’s Hall of Justice.

In Green’s book — The Marin County Civic Center: An Architecture for Democracyhe writes:

The Marin County Hall of Justice became a turning point in the design of courts throughout the United States, and a new interest in that subject catalyzed from this design project.

In ORO Edition’s recently published work, Aaron G. Green: Organic Architecture Beyond Frank Lloyd Wright, we learn not only about Green’s collaborations with Wright but also about the beauty and diversity of Green’s own work which ranges from commercial, educational and religious structures to mass housing, educational and residential projects.

“Aaron G. Green FAIA was an internationally known organic architect of ‘striking originality and grace.’” (ORO Editions).
