California Room Partners with Bookmobile for Marin Farm Day, 2012

by Carol Acquaviva

Children line up to learn about our agricultural history at the 2012 Marin County Farm Day.

The Anne T. Kent California Room and the Marin County Free Library’s Bookmobile joined together for Farm Day, on March 22, 2012 at the Marin Center Exhibit Hall. The event was a huge success, as groups of children, parents and teachers visited our booth to learn about Marin’s agricultural heritage.

Children played our matching game, pairing up “what, where & when” with historical photos of Marin agriculture, including: grapes in Fairfax in 1900; hay in Kentfield in 1929; shrimp fishing at China Camp in 1915; and artichokes in West Marin in 1937. Afterwards, they took turns spinning the giant wheel to win a special prize.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our 2012 booth. We look forward to seeing you at a future Farm Day!
