We are pleased to announce that our new exhibit celebrating the legacy of Frank Lloyd Wright will open to the public on Tuesday, March 27, 2012, at 9 am, when it is officially dedicated.

The exhibit is housed in the former Civic Center Gift Shop on the 2nd floor of the Hall of Justice, just inside the Cafeteria in Room 233.

“Marin & the Realm of Frank Lloyd Wright” curated by Librarian, Laurie Thompson, features historical photographs, ephemera, documents and artifacts from the Library’s Anne T. Kent California Room collection. The main exhibit tells the story of the design and construction of the Civic Center Administration & Hall of Justice Buildings. That exhibit is complemented by two smaller ones: “Frank Lloyd Wright: In the Realm of Ideas” a traveling exhibition organized by the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation, installed at the Marin Civic Center in 1990; and “Homes & Buildings designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in California & Beyond.”

“Marin & the Realm of Frank Lloyd Wright” was greatly enhanced by donations and loans from Elizabeth “Suki” Sennett, Marin County Supervisor Annette Rose and Willian J. Schwarz, AIA, Architect.

The retrofit of the new exhibition space was made possible by a donation from former Marin County Supervisor Charles F. McGlashan IV and was designed by David Vaughan, Associate Architect for the Department of Public Works. The Frank Lloyd Wright Civic Center Conservancy was the sponsoring organization and David Speer, Administrator’s Office, coordinated the project.

Following the Grand Opening on March 27, 2012, the exhibit will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 7am to 3pm at the Marin County Civic Center.
