1. What original feature of the Marin County Civic Center Post Office is no longer there?
Half of the gold-leafed decorative globe comprised part of the exterior facade, and half was on the inside of the post office’s front lobby. The globe was vandalized early on, and never replaced. The Civic Center Post Office opened on May 26, 1962.

The successful “K.O. Polio” public health campaign delivered the Sabin oral Polio vaccine (via a sugar cube), distributed from Marin General Hospital, to individuals all over Marin. This heavily-promoted event coincided with similar initiative around the Bay area, and beyond.
