San Bernardino Shooting

14 people were killed and 17 more were injured in a mass shooting that occurred in San Bernardino on Wednesday. The two suspects, a married couple, were killed in a car chase shootout that included more than 20 police officers. The shooting occurred in a conference room at the Inland Regional Center, an institution for people with developmental disabilities. Though many believe this to have been a premeditated act of terror, investigators have not yet determined a motive.

USC Head Football Coach

USC Athletic Director Pat Haden named interim coach Clay Helton as permanent head coach of the USC football team, just one day after the Trojans defeated crosstown rival UCLA for the first time since 2011. Helton, who acted as interim coach for seven weeks after Steve Sarkisian was fired, accepted a five- year guarantee contract to coach the Trojans.
