Jennifer Jimenez, 17, is a rising senior at Bravo Medical Magnet. It’s been a rough path, she said, and feels the time passing too quickly and still doesn’t believe she’s going to become a senior.

Jimenez said she still feels “stuck in sophomore year” and that’s how she visualizes herself as.

Starting her last year of high school is something that makes Jimenez anxious. This time of year will be filled with many new things such as applying to college. Nevertheless, she’s excited to take on this challenge and experience graduating high school to start new beginnings.

In a candid interview, Jimenez opened up about her high school journey and what’s she’s done, what she was like and how high school has really changed her.

Freshman year was very scary for her and she’d hardly talk to anyone, however, during her junior year she really started to introspect and took her academics more seriously.

Her advice for anyone struggling in high school or for who’s about to start is to “take it seriously from the start and don’t wait until the last minute to start getting good grades.”

Some fun facts about Jimenez: she’s a very extroverted person, but sometimes likes being alone. She also likes to become friends and talk to anyone, even if they are shy.

She found out about AYA through her English teacher who was offering extra credit to anyone who applied, and she’s a very kind and hardworking person.

Jimenez hopes that by participating in AYA she will be able to grow and learn and achieve great things as well as to make new friends.
