Meysi Ramon is a 17-year-old senior residing in Los Angeles, California. Meysi is a rising senior at USC Hybrid High College Prep High School. She is the youngest child out of 5 children. She credits her household of 6 women for her ability to remain hard working and resilient during difficult times. When Meysi was 2 years old, her mother carried her on her back and headed to the United States in hopes to find a gateway of opportunities. She was quick to assimilate into the country’s culture and find her own community in South Central.

Before high school, she attended Los Angeles Academy Middle School. She explains that the shift between a large public school and a charter school was difficult. It was until those years that she saw the obvious division between the quality of education in both institutions. As a result, Meysi has geared most of her activism and work to combat the inequity in public education. She is a student ambassador in her high school, helping recruit and support prospective students in the process.

In addition to her interest in educational equity, Meysi also spends her Saturdays at Changeist L.A., formerly known as Big Citizen Hub to work with other non-profits and learning about the resources for undocumented immigrants.

Meysi Ramon is a 4.0 student. She has a love for writing and dreams about publishing a book about words from experts and entries she has collected over the years. She says, “I feel unique when I write about the way I see and handle things. Whether it’s life or conflict, kindness or evil, grace or ego, I observe and feel things in ways only I can explain.” Meysi has been awarded the Golden Trojan at school, a school-wide award recognizing the true embodiment of a trojan. She is held at high standards within her family and at school; at times, she says it can be draining.

Meysi has struggled with mental health issues in the past. Yet, she now says that she is in the long journey to peace. Her hobbies include bringing awareness to mental health issues as well. She is a member of Girls Club at her school, one of her favorite clubs due to how its ability to cultivate a safe environment.

When asked to describe herself in 3 words, Meysi chose “cosmical, ambitious and DREAMER.” She continues to live everyday in hopes to make her community better and fulfill the goals she set out for herself.
