Ways to Make Better Use of Your Data

“ We are surrounded by data, but starved by insights ’’ — Jay Neer

There is no shortage of customer data available at our fingertips today.

It is simple to use in order to better understand our customers and improve their experience. Unfortunately, 96 percent of businesses report that they are not effectively managing data.

If your company falls into this category, here are four ways to turn vital customer insights into actionable marketing tactics after gathering consumer data:

Use of Your Data
  1. Become a Customer-Centric Organization:

“ A customer-centric is more than a company that provides good service,” writes Super Office’s Steven MacDonald. Amazon and Zappos are two examples of “customer-centric brands that have spent years creating a culture around the customer and their needs.”

To put your customers first, it would be beneficial if your organization is passionate, focused on their wants and needs, built relationships, and implemented a customer retention strategy.

So, how do insights come into play?

To begin, keep a close eye on your churn rate. Getting new customers is more expensive than keeping old ones. You should also consider the customer lifetime value (CLV) to determine whether it is worthwhile to invest in the customer.

2. Combine customer data from various channels and campaigns:

Multi-channel marketing is defined by many organizations, unsurprisingly, as communicating with and marketing to prospects and customers across many channels, including online and offline,” writes Jay Acunzo on HubSpot.

  • Create distinct buyer personas. A buyer persona is a semi-fictional representation of your “ideal” customer that is based on real data from your existing customers.
  • Create consumer-first, relevant, and helpful content.
  • All channels must communicate with one another.
  • Provide consumers with multiple channels and devices through which to access their content.
  • Closed-loop analytics can be used to track the results of each channel. These metrics provide information about the entire customer lifecycle. This is very useful for sales and marketing because it tells you what it takes to get a customer or “ close the loop ” on your marketing efforts.

Finally, this will provide your customers with a personalized experience based on information such as their location, interests, and preferences such as device and social media platform of choice.

“ With data collection ‘ the sooner the better ’ is always the best answer ’’ — Marissa Mayer

3. Respond to Changes and Innovation with Feedback:

Customer insights must be used to alter the status quo within your company.

According to Brian Honigman of Sprout Social, ConAgra Foods listened to customer feedback after discontinuing “easy-to-open pop-top lids from all of its Chef Boyardee canned pasta.”

Customers were upset by the change and expressed their displeasure on social media. ConAgra clearly heard the message and reinstated the pop-top lids.

At the end of the day, you’re creating the best product for your customers. Your market will let you know if the product is not a good fit. It is then entirely up to you whether you can pivot in order to better serve your customers.

The concept of pivoting and iterating your product on a regular basis will spark innovation. Just remember to keep your customers in mind as you implement these changes.

“ You can have data without information but you cannot have information without data ’’ — Daniel Keys Maron

4. Intelligence Predictive:

“ Finally, use your understanding of your customer and knowledge of your own business/field to predict what type of actions will occur,” says Adobe’s Bruce Swann. Then all you have to do is act in accordance with those predictions.

When you begin collecting data on your customers, it is critical to carefully analyze this information. You can actually use this data to forecast future consumer trends or attitudes.

Many companies create complex algorithms that are designed to recognize patterns in data and can assist you in making sense of it all. If you use these predictions correctly, you will save a lot of time and money, and you may even save your business.

Big data is a hot topic in technology right now. It is critical not only to collect data but also to properly analyze and utilize it. Make the most of your data by employing these techniques.
