I Don’t Fucking Hate You Because You’re White
I Hate That Your Whiteness Is More Important Than My Voice
If the title of this article pissed you off, then you are precisely who I am speaking to. Or trying to. I do not hate you. I have a white mother, (do you see how that sounds?) So no, I do not hate white people. I come from you, many of you are my cousins.
But just because we’re genetically related and may not know it, doesn’t mean I have to defend your right to kill people like me, simply because I exist.
And don’t get me wrong, I know many of you are literally not pointing guns at random Black, Brown, and Indigenous folk, but the problem isn’t those of you who aren’t being violent physically.
It’s about those of you who are choosing violence, through choosing silence as your weapon. Too many of us are comfortable remaining silent instead of saying something when we see something that we know isn’t right.
Too many folks are looking at what’s happening in America and they are genuinely thinking “This is good, continue to destroy the US Constitution without prejudice.”
This worries me, especially with the literal Liberal upheaval in Canada, with that party and the fact that many more folks in Canada are looking to America and seeing the promise of something they think they want.
I am asking you all — regardless of race, creed, nationality, size, and orientation, — to wake the fuck up and realize that men like Donald Trump, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg, and Pierre Poilivere, are not going to save us.
If anything they are going to destroy all the safeguards that people we actually can trust, put into place, while telling us that the deconstruction of our laws and all things that we hold sacred, is for our own good.
Where have we heard that before? And no, I’m not even just talking about men like Hitler, I am talking about men like Putin, I am talking about all of the leaders who swore on their rise to power that they genuinely care about society, only to do their best to destroy it.
I am talking about all of the Black, Brown, and Indigenous people, who are genuinely and perfectly fine, with stomping on their own cousins, to make a dent in the world for themselves. I am talking about all the white people who sit back and watch the people of color, fight against themselves, instead of the real problem of white supremacy, zionism, and racism.
We had a full global melt down — I say we but I mean you — over the thought of DEI and Critical Race Theory because white people, and ONLY RACIST WHITE PEOPLE, got completely triggered at the idea that Black folk — in particular — wanted to share their true history, with the world.
I am asking you — those of you who hate me — who are angry at me — who wish death upon me — to give us a break. Let us breathe, take the boot off our necks, and let us have the air that we need to build the kind of legacy that we deserve to be able to build.
Not a single Black, Brown or Indigenous, person on this planet, wants to keep harping on racism. We want to talk about our joy, our laughter, our love, but the reason that we don’t is because we recognize that until we have the space to have those things, we can’t talk about them because we’re too busy fighting white supremacy.
Did that paragraph exaust you? Well imagine that being your entire life.
Black, Brown, and Indigenous people are not asking for more than we deserve, and yes we’re absolutely willing to work for what we deserve, but what we’re asking for is room to exist.
That’s it.
Let us have proper housing. Let us have food on our plates, and clothes to wear, let us be human, let us make mistakes, and let us come back from those mistakes wiser, stronger, and better for it.
Without, I might add, judging us for getting it wrong, harsher than you judge your own when they get it wrong. Or murdering us in the streets and calling it justice.
There is an account on X that tracks white, right-wing Christian pastors, who have been arrested for sex crimes against children. I’ve lost count of the number of times this account has posted, because there are so fucking many of them.
And yet you continue to tell us — regardless of the evidence — that church is the right place for vulnerable people — much less children, even as we can see the danger before our very eyes.
I’m not trying to take anything away from your culture, for what it’s worth, I am just trying to ask if holding onto your “white culture,” is more important, than protecting the most innocent among us.
