Banu Subramaniam has done a great job of pointing out the inequalities for people that are not white middle class males through her book “Ghost Stories For Darwin.” Through the chapters that we read over the past through weeks, it was very eye opening to read Banu’s stories and learn more about the history of science and what is was like for different groups of people to make it in science throughout the decades.

After Banu attempted to inform readers on science, culture, and the history of it all, she gave us a call to action. Talking about the problems in the world does not solve the problems of the world; so Banu suggests that when we begin to combine the humanities with sciences, ignorance will start depleting. For so long, people have been taught in ignorance because we’ve been taught one side of the scientific story; the white side. The feminist study Banu speaks about really opens science to a broader world of science that is gender neutral, multicultural, and multiracial.

Modern science is letting go of the elitist thinking of traditional science and is now embracing new approaches to scientific findings, information, and questions.
