The readings this week discussed how systems can change and adapt to the ways of the world. In particular, we read about the Zimbabwe Bush Pump which was remodeled constantly in order to stay with the times. This creates an amazing metaphor that showcases how important it is to be able to adapt to the times. Our methods of obtaining information should not be limited to what is socially pushed down upon us for generations. We should be able to think for ourselves and continue to gauge information as well as consider multiple perspectives. Often times, people do not attempt new things or go outside the status quo because it is easier to continue doing the same thing. This won’t ultimately lead to progress as change happens when people question things and do things differently. https://www.huffingtonpost.com/matthew-resnick/changing-education-in-an-_b_1171059.html. This article on the Huffintgon Post talks about how education is rapidly changing due to the advent of technology. The author states that this is a great time to teach the idea that learning goes beyond a classroom and experiences are important. This article discusses how budget cuts can make technology seem as the most important thing rather than a supplement to technology. This is similar to the fluid technology of the bush pump as education is able to adapt to what the modern day is operating on in terms of technology, but it can still hold its core values. Students are able to learn with technology but they can also still have the resources necessary to gain information through activities in their lives.
