An interdisciplinary approach to problems involves mutliple people sharing their perspectives. This approach might become key when it comes to solving or helping some of the world’s biggest problems. Subramaniam mentions how feminist and women studies have to rely on humanitarian fields in order to get research as there still isn’t enough representation in stem fields. This week and throughout this course, we have learned about how hard it is to be a female and try to pursue technological fields. Subrmaniam states that once more females enter these fields, then we will be able to start tackling the bigger issues as well as bring equality to the sexes. This approach has been growing in popularity throughout the world as well. https://www.scidev.net/sub-saharan-africa/sdgs/scidev-net-at-large/interdisciplinary-approach-tackling-challenges.html. This article talks about how an interdisciplinary approach is necessary to help global challenges. Reuben Marwanga stated that, “Africa can no longer depend on the goodwill of donors, we should be the one driving innovations and partnerships.” An interdisciplinary approach will help educate people on various perspectives which will lead to a much more worldy and holistic understanding of the globe. Hopefully the increase of interdisciplinary approahces and research will help bring equality and innovation to parts of the world that desperately need it.
