Why We Invested Again: Axle
As the world entered lockdown last year, we announced our first investment in Axle, the logistics platform for the modern broker. I’m happy to report that they are crushing it!
Even before the pandemic put intense pressure on global supply chains, the logistics industry, and particularly smaller or non-digitally native freight brokers, were already signaling a need for an upgrade for the digital age.
Axle’s wedge product, QuickPay for carriers delivered via freight intermediaries, was the right product at the right time. Axle’s dramatic 850% growth in the last year has come thanks to the attractiveness of this simple product, and the stellar API integration stack built by the Axle team.
In addition to raising a substantial debt fund to back demand; building the tech and workflow management solutions to attract, onboard and manage clients in a transparent way; creating and automating a complex operations, underwriting and fraud detection strategy; and forming an incredible sales and distribution team, Axle has also built some really cool features to support its diverse client base.
Axle is focused on expanding the team across almost all departments, allowing them to continue to focus on customer support along with product development.
