Antics of Dream Flyers
Comic
A poem of dreamtime flying, corresponding to the oral cues and illustration of Debbie V., 4th grade, Poets-in-the-Schools.
“It was like this,” says Debbie,
“I’m taking a bath with lots of bubbles,
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀so many you can’t see my body,
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀and I feel light and free —
I could fly without even trying.
But it’s the bathtub that’s flying!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀I don’t wonder how that can be,
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀just go along for a joy-ride.
Oh, the bath water rises like high tide!
Ah, it calms, so I’m not in trouble.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀When I reach a great altitude,
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀everyone thinks I’m a cloud.”
