A poem of dreamtime flying, corresponding to the oral cues and illustration of Eric S., 3rd grade, Poets-in-the-Schools.
Eric’s become as expansive and awesome
⠀⠀as a Macy’s balloon at high noon,
⠀⠀⠀⠀parading on Thanksgiving Day.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀The higher the better, no ropes for a tether,
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀over park and cathedral,
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀past construction upheaval . . .
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀Says Eric the Awesome, “Flying is welcome
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀after I feast on each holiday.”
