We released 5 games and finally got featured by Apple
Getting noticed by Apple isn’t easy, but our fifth game Scolors has now been featured by Apple.
12 games in 12 months
For years we’ve been building projects, adding features and polishing before losing motivation and starting something new. We needed to start finishing what we started, so we decided to start building 12 mobile games in 12 months. One game per month might not be too hard, but we didn’t want to build shitty games.
A challenge like this was going to help us finish what we started by building small, yet nice and fun games.
One other goal with this challenge was to keep increasing the number of downloads every month by getting better at marketing and by cross-promoting our games. So far we’ve built and released five games. Here’s the story behind each of the games.
SquareSpinner
The first project had to be a really small one that we could finish very quickly. I downloaded Corona SDK and started programming. The first prototype was built in a day I think. My partner Camilla drew up a design and I started implementing it. After a couple of weeks with testing and polishing, we were ready to submit it to the App Store and Play Store.
SquareSpinner is a really simple game where you see a spinning square at the middle of the screen, and your goal is to tap the screen and stop it when it’s at a straight angle.

Zmath
When we started building our second game, we wanted to make something more advanced than SquareSpinner. Something that had a little bit more longevity. We have all played the classic game Snake, and we all loved it. But just building a simple snake game wasn’t enough, so we had to come up with something more.
When you’re playing Zmath you’ll see a math equation at the top of the screen. All around the screen is different numbers, but only one of them is correct. And yes, you need to steer the snake while you’re solving the equation. When you’ve solved it you can “eat” the correct answer.

Beelly
Beelly is a really fun game you can use either by tilting your phone or using on-screen buttons. This game really messes with your brain. When the game starts, the main character goes left when you tilt the phone left and right when you tilt it right. But around every eight seconds, this inverts. So when you tilt left, the main character goes right.
The first times you play it you’ll probably going to laugh. It’s so funny trying to control the main character opposite of what feels natural.

Blackout
We have always loved puzzle games and wanted to make one our self. We decided that we wanted to build something that had to do with memory and not just a plain “match three” kind of game.

Scolors — Our featured game
Scolors is our newest game and we’re really proud of it. It had only been “live” for about two days before Apple picked it up and decided to feature it on the “New games we love” in over 20 countries. We had a lot of downloads the days it was on that featured list.
About the game: Easy and addictive one touch game. Jump through blocks with the same color and collect stars to increase your score multiplier which will help you get an even higher score.

● Tap the screen to jump.
● Jump through the blocks with the same color as your character.
● Collect stars to increase your score multiplier to get even more points.
