Reach Alternative Investments offers sophisticated investors access to exclusive institutional-grade private market opportunities from the world’s leading asset managers, with research to invest effectively.

For fund managers which want to diversify their fundraising, but are not set up for small cap allocations, and investors who want to access leading private market funds, but do not have the minimum ticket size. The FinTech platform aggregates investor demand to enable access to institutional-grade funds from as little as AU$75,000.

By aggregating small-cap allocations, Reach Alternative Investments solves the administration problem for fund managers and the access problem for sophisticated investors.

Led by Hugh McCaffrey and Sam Phillips, Reach Alternative Investments is a FinTech startup invested in by Antler.

“This is a very exciting team tackling a large market opportunity with proprietary relationships and opportune timing,” says Bede Moore, Managing Partner of Antler APAC.

“Currently, investment options for Australian non-institutional investors are limited. Many sophisticated investors and their advisors are seeking better investment opportunities to deliver stronger returns, better diversification, and dampen volatility in their portfolios.

“Reach Alternative Investments is solving this issue with a technology-led product that seamlessly allows investors and their advisors to access these funds.”

“We have deep relationships with some of the largest global private market/alternative asset managers, which specialise in institutional-grade investments,” says Phillips. “These investments are usually not accessible to non-institutional clients due to a lack of liquidity, a high minimum investment size, and a lack of knowledge/access.

We have also aligned ourselves with private wealth and planning groups to aggregate demand from sophisticated investors to meet the minimum investment size, manage all administration, liquidity, reporting, and related functions. By only representing the best global asset managers we are uniquely positioned to tap into the wealth networks and scale quickly.

“Additionally, Reach Alternative Investments is not an advisor, private bank, or wealth manager, we have no conflicts with these groups and as an independent distributor of the world’s leading names. We are well-positioned for rapid and sustainable growth.”

“The timing is right for this solution,” says Moore. “With around AU$150 billion is sitting in cash in SMSFs, due to the lack of quality investment options, and the Royal Commission enabling wealth advisors to now have greater autonomy, Reach Alternative Investments’ unique technology and deep relationships with global asset managers allows it to access and distribute institutional-grade products directly to investors or via wealth managers and financial planners.”

So far, the startup has been in advanced discussions with four of the top global fund managers in order to bring their products to market and have signed a number of beta-participation agreements from private wealth advisor groups, who are eager to access institutional-grade products.

“We have also secured exclusive access to products provided by a top ten global fund manager and will have sole distribution rights to that product into our market,” says Phillips.
