Introductory Note

In continuing the tribute to the 50th anniversary of the physical disappearance of António Carneiro Gonçalves, we have come close to the goal set for this initiative: to disseminate a dozen pieces by Anton, António’s alter ego, in a digital and bilingual format (Portuguese and English). Judging by the reactions, accesses, and shares of the articles released, the initiative has been a very pleasant surprise. Those who already knew Anton’s work have enjoyed revisiting it. Those who were unfamiliar with Anton’s writings have discovered a literary revelation that had escaped them.

Illustrations have been added to the texts to enhance the narrative, through an interactive dialogue with the new Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools. Yes, a dialogue, it should be said. As I exemplified in an article of December 24, 2023 (1st Anniversary with ChatGPT: “My New Lover?), these tools do not always behave as intelligently as expected. Especially when it comes to humor or more delicate subjects, ChatGPT can really be a pain in the arse? (topic of an article to be published soon).
