Many designers face this issue while setting a project file on Figma especially when they start a case study or portfolio project.

Designers end up making various Figma files for different deliverables. For example, they might keep separate files Research Deliverables, Wireframes, and Visual Design. However, It becomes a challenge when it comes to presenting the entire project work to potential employers.

Let’s assume that your first case study project is about creating an online organic commerce store and for that you have done the following deliverables.

  • Persona
  • Empathy map
  • Feature roadmap
  • Feature metrics
  • Competitive analysis
  • Project goals
  • Paper sketches
  • Mid fidelity wireframes
  • Usability Testing
  • Prototype
  • UI design

The solution is simple. Please follow the steps mentioned below.

Step 1: Create a new Figma project

Step 2: Use pages to organize all of your deliverables

For example, you can keep all research related deliverables into one page. You can call it as Research Deliverables. Similarly, you can keep all mobile and desktop wireframes into Wireframes Page.

On the left panel, you could see the proper classification and organization of your entire project.

It looks great and it is simple. Isn’t it?

Let me share my input for the FAQ on the same topic.

1. How do I structure my Figma project if It’s about redesigning the app or website?

✦ You can define your own structure based on your deliverables. You can follow the sequence of your project phase and define all the pages.

2. Can I build the same project structure in Sketch App?

✦ Yes, for sure. Sketch app allows you to organize your project in the same way. You can create pages in Sketch App as well.

3. Would my prototype link work properly if I keep it inside one page?

✦ Yes, it would work properly. It would not break. You need to make sure that you have to share the prototype link which comes when you go inside presentation mode. It should work properly.
