For the bliss of your sweet dream, you hit the snooze button as often as you could until you started sleeping longer than you should. You ignored the beeping of the clock that now comes as no shock.

You intend to extend the dream despite its inevitable end. Maybe if you pretend long enough, you can avoid the tough part. The chances of resuming the dream are little to none, waking up from your slumber can’t be undone.

It was not your intention for things to end with such tension, but what could you really do? In the beginning, all you wanted was a happy-ever-after. Along the line, well, the colours became clearer.

What then were you to do when the things you once overlooked became prominent, all you could think about? You were both too blinded by your attraction to each other to ever imagine any future dissatisfaction. At first, you both knew what you wanted but then your baggage became a burden.

No one could foresee this ending, with the initial feelings transcending anything either of you had ever known, but what is love that doesn’t know woe? His smile, your smile, both of you were swooning; the shots you were both shooting. Where did it go wrong from there? At what point did you lose your lover's stare?

Your excuse to defend them in front of your friends became your biggest reason to resent. Suddenly, posts became more relatable your standards, less debatable. You went from ‘it’s not a big deal’ to quoting tweets about icks with the word ‘real’.

Sweet had become sour, all because you left the milk past the hour. You had the choice to escape; instead, you let the problems exacerbate. Now you’re both forced to quit the night without a snooze button in sight.

Don’t let the water run cold. Don’t leave the bread out to mold. You know what’s best for the both of you. The darkest berries have the sweetest juice, they say but when you know it’s not working, call it quits before all that’s left are hateful bits.
