Ape Island Mating is Live
We are excited to announce that Ape mating is now available on Ethereum.
This system, which functions as the core inflationary tool for the Ape population, allows users to spend their APEIN token to mate any two apes from any season.
The mating process works to cross body part-specific traits to create what is called an Offspring Ape. These Offspring take 15 minutes to generate into Baby Apes, with an additional 5 day waiting period before they can evolve into an Adult Ape.
Offspring Vault
All Offspring Apes are eligible to be added into the Offspring Vault, an upcoming APEIN reward vault on PolyientX. The rewards for the Offspring Vault are set at 0.2 APEIN / Ethereum Block, pulling allocation % from the Season 1 and 2 Vaults.
Once launched, Season 1, 2 and the Offspring Vault will all be earning 0.2 APEIN / block. The Offspring Vault rewards will be stable through the addition of new seasons moving forward while the Season Vaults will be diluted, further driving the scarcity economics around each season (less Apes to Vault = higher % reward among users).
Quick Mating Economics
The total cost to mate two Apes is dependent on the total number times each Ape has mated prior.
- Mated 0 times prior = 100 APEIN
- Mated 1 time prior = 200 APEIN
- Mated 2 times prior = 300 APEIN
Example 1: if Ape 1 has mated 1 time prior and Ape 2 has mated 2 times prior, the cost to mate them 1 time would equal 200 APEIN + 300 APEIN = 500 APEIN total.
Example 2: if Ape 3 and Ape 4 have both been mated 0 times prior, the cost to fully mate them 3 times would equal 200 APEIN + 400 APEIN + 600 APEIN = 1200 APEIN total.
Adult Apes become Elder Ape-eligible once they have been mated 3 total times.
Elder Ape Innovation
Elder Apes are the final stage of the evolutionary life cycle. These Apes are capable of earning a share of the decentralized transaction fees in both ETH and AVAX, depending on the network.
Elder Apes are an industry-defining innovation that will bring a new level of exclusivity to the Ape Island metaverse.

Closing Remarks
This is a big next step for the Ape Island economy, as it is the first official introduction of deflationary pressure on the inflationary APEIN utility token.

We plan to release mating on the low-fee Avalanche network following the initial Expansion Season Ape sale.
