Overview

Jungle Rumble is a PvP idle battle game that takes place in the Isles of Motu metaverse. To play, users assemble a team of three (3) Apes and send them into the Jungle for a chance to win APEIN, greatness, and climb the weekly leaderboard. There are no NPCs in the Jungle — every Rumble pits two teams against each other in a visually stunning auto battle where the victor is determined by their team’s battle stats.

To participate, every player will need to acquire the following NFTs and ERC-20 tokens:

  • At least three (3) Ape Island NFTs
  • At least five (5) APEIN

Ape Island NFTs can be minted for three (3) APEIN through our Ape Builder. APEIN tokens can be acquired by Vaulting Ape Island NFTs or purchased on Pangolin.

Gameplay

Jungle Rumble utilizes wagering and deflationary mechanics to reward strong teams and bolster APEIN Tokenomics. Here’s a step-by-step guide for how to play:

  • Visit the Jungle Rumble website and launch the game — click “Enter” and connect your MetaMask when prompted
  • After connecting your MetaMask wallet, you’ll find yourself in the game Lobby. Click “Team Builder” and follow the prompts to create your first team
  • Click the “+” signs at the top of the team creation screen and select your desired Apes from your roster of Crewmates. This is where the strategy comes in, so choose wisely!
  • After creating your team, click “Go Back.” You’ll be sent back to the Lobby screen. Once back in the Lobby, you should see your selected team under the “Your Team” header. Click “Start Game” and prepare to enter the Jungle!
  • After clicking “Start Game”, you’ll be prompted to add APEIN to your Trove. Add at least five (5) APEIN to proceed. This transaction will incur a gas fee.
  • Once APEIN has been added to your Trove, you’ll be taken to the Jungle Rumble Map Selection screen. Each level is Relic gated — Relics are earned by beating others in battle. Go to Skull Cove and click “Play” to start Rumbling.
  • Once you’ve clicked “Play”, you’ll be taken to the matchmaking screen. All players automatically enter the jungle as Active players — this means you get to watch your Rumbles and decide whether you stay in the Jungle after each Rumble or exit to claim the accrued APEIN from your Trove. If you would prefer to go Idle, click the pause button in the center of the matchmaking screen and then click the “Go Idle” button next to Captain Polly.
  • If you remain Active, you’ll be matched with another player and the Rumble will commence! The icon in the top right of your screen will remain green and you’ll watch the action live. Best of luck. If you become Idle, you’ll be taken back to the Lobby and the icon in the top right of your screen will become yellow. To switch back to Active, click “Continue Game” at the bottom of your screen.
  • That’s it! Have fun and do your best to earn those Relics, you crazy Apes.

Wagering

Remember the APEIN you added to your Trove before entering the Jungle? That’s your Rumble Wager. Every time you enter a Rumble, your Wager is up for grabs — if you win you keep it, if you lose it’s gone. It’s important to note that regardless of how much APEIN you amass during your time in the Jungle, your Rumble Wager will always be at most five (5) APEIN.

The Jungle’s Take

If you win your Rumble, you keep 100% of your Rumble Wager as well as 80% of the losing team’s Rumble Wager. 20% of each losing team’s Rumble Wager is lost to the Jungle — here’s what happens after it’s lost:

  • 50% of the APEIN lost to the Jungle is immediately burned, thereby reducing the overall supply of APEIN in the market.
  • 25% is kept by Ape In for operating and marketing costs.
  • 25% goes into a prize pool with such a pool distributed to the top ten (10) players every week.

Relics & The Weekly Leaderboard

The Relic System

Jungle Rumble has three levels — levels 2 and 3 are Relic gated. Relics are gained and lost pursuant the following logic:

  • Players start with 0 Jungle Relics
  • Players win 10 Jungle Relics for every Rumble they win
  • Players lose 5 Jungle Relics for every Rumble they lose

Each level will be gated as follows:

  • Jungle 1 — zero (0) Relics needed to enter
  • Jungle 2 — fifty (50) Relics needed to enter; players must win at least 5 Rumbles to move from Jungle 1 to Jungle 2
  • Jungle 3 — one hundred (100) Relics needed to enter; players must win at least 10 Rumbles to move from Jungle 2 to Jungle 3

Leaderboard

Weekly Leaderboard standings are determined by Relic holdings at the end of every week. Please note that if a player leaves the Jungle, they’ll lose all their Relics. If you leave the Jungle and lose your Relics, you’re off the Leaderboard!

Players who finish the week in the top ten (10) on the Leaderboard get to claim a cut of the weekly prize pot. The rewards breakdown will be as follows:

Battle Logic

Ape Stats

Each Ape is minted with the following stats:

  1. Attack
  2. Defense
  3. Speed
  4. Intellect
  5. Ability
  6. Nature

Each stat will play a pivotal role in determining the winners and losers of each Rumble. Attack + Ability will form the basis for an Ape Team’s “Attack Power” while Defense + Intellect + Nature will be used to determine an Ape Team’s “Health Points.”

Calculating Attack Power & Health Points

Each team will be made of three Apes. The Attack Power and Health Points for each team will be calculated as follows:

Determining Who Goes First

The team with the higher average Speed stat will have a 75% chance of attacking first. Speed is key in the Jungle!

Battle Logic In Action

The below example is provided to illustrate the Battle Logic in action:

Ape Team 2 has a higher average Speed stat and has the advantage. The odds go in their favor and they get to attack first.

Ape Team 2 attacks Ape Team 1 with 138 Attack Power. Team 1’s Health Points is reduced by 138. Team 1 then attacks Team 2 with 134 Attack Power and Team 2’s Health Points are reduced by 134. This process continues until one of the team’s Health Points is reduced to 0. The last Ape Team standing is the winner

Token Economy

Jungle Rumble’s token economy is deflationary by design — no new tokens are created through gameplay, only re-distributed and or destroyed. The larger the player base grows, the faster APEIN is burned; once the Jungle reaches saturation, the potential arises for a greater number of tokens to be burned through gameplay than are emitted through the Ape Island NFT Vaults each day.

Gas

While Avalanche has done a phenomenal job creating a low-gas environment, we know from past experience that high-volume in-game transactions can affect the network as a whole and inflate gas costs for all involved. To wit, players will only incur gas fees three times when playing Jungle Rumble — (1) when they add APEIN to their Trove, (2) when they leave the Jungle to claim APEIN from their Trove, and (3) if and when they claim APEIN from the weekly prize pot.

Closing Thoughts

Jungle Rumble is an alpha build — this means that the game has been released in its purest form. Over time, we intend to update and add new features as appropriate and pursuant to the feedback we receive from our community. For months, you all have been asking the team to create a gamified experience that allowed you to use your Apes in a new, exciting, interactive way — that’s why we built Jungle Rumble. We built it all for you. We hope you enjoy it.
