It had been months since Captain Nape and the crew set foot on dry land. Salt burnt and wind swept, the ship slowly drifted down a small canal several hundred leagues north of the Empire of Eth. They had no idea where they were, but they were short on supplies and anywhere was better than the monsoon they had just escaped.

As they drifted farther, the jungle surrounding the canal grew denser and the fog began to thicken. As the deck hands began to panic, Captain Nape’s 1st Mate ran to the Quartermaster and whispered something in his ear. The Quarter Master’s eyes grew wide, breaking off the conversation and running to Captain Nape with sweat collecting on his brow. Something was wrong.

Right before the Quarter Master could reach Captain Nape the ship began to pick up speed, barreling down the foggy canal at a breakneck pace. The ship bumped, jumped, and rocked before slamming into a large unforeseen mass, tossing Captain Nape off the ship and into the thick jungle underbrush.

As he stood up and shook himself off, loud violent screeches began to emanate from close by. Before he had a chance to get his bearings Captain Nape was off in a mad dash, not knowing what was chasing him but knowing it couldn’t be anything good. Suddenly, two pairs of hands grabbed him by the arms and began pulling him deeper into the jungle. He looked left, then right, vaguely making out the clunky shapes of armored Apes hustling with a purpose. As the fog began to part, Captain Nape was able to see the outline of a giant skull off in the distance, eye sockets glinting with gold. Just as he began to gather himself to ask his rescuers what they were running from or where they were heading, the earth began to quake. The trees began to shake. The Jungle began to Rumble.

Enter Jungle Rumble

Jungle Rumble will be the first battle-game in the Ape In Metaverse. To play, users will assemble a team of three (3) Apes and send them into the Jungle for a chance to win APEIN, greatness, and climb the seasonal leaderboards. There are no NPCs in the Jungle — every Rumble pits two teams against each other in a visually stunning auto battle where the victor is determined by their team’s battle stats.

Game Mechanics

Jungle Rumble will utilize wagering and deflationary mechanics to reward strong teams and bolster APEIN tokenomics. Here’s how it’s going to work:

  • Players will create their teams and stake five (5) APEIN in their Jungle Trove.
  • Before entering the Jungle, players will choose their status — Active or Idle. Active players journey through the Jungle challenging Idle players, Idle players sit in the Jungle and are automatically moved through levels based on the results of their Rumbles.
  • Once an Active player engages an Idle player, a Rumble begins. If there are no Idle players available, Active players are matched with other Active players.
  • The team with the higher average speed will attack first. If both teams have the same average speed, one of the two will be randomly selected to attack first. After the first attack is dealt, the winner of the battle is determined by the highest total combat attribute points of each party.
  • The winning team keeps their five (5) APEIN wager. 80% of the losing team’s APEIN wager is transferred to the winner’s Jungle Trove and 20% is lost to the Jungle.
  • After a player wins a certain number of Rumbles or collects a certain amount of APEIN, whichever comes first, they earn the right to progress deeper into the Jungle. The Jungle will consist of three (3) levels.

The Jungle’s Take

20% of each losing team’s APEIN wager is lost to the Jungle. Here’s what happens after it’s lost:

  • 50% of the APEIN lost to the Jungle is immediately burned, thereby reducing the overall supply of APEIN in the market.
  • 25% is kept by Ape In for operating and marketing costs.
  • 25% goes into a prize pool with such a pool distributed to the top players every week (the number of prize pool winners is still TBD).

To claim the prize pool, players must remain in the final level of the Jungle at the time of distribution. Players who top the leaderboard but who are not actively engaged will not be entitled to their share of the lost APEIN.

Design

We’ve created six (6) unique Apes that every player will utilize during their journeys through the Jungle. Active players will play through their Rumbles using Captain Nape, The Witch Doctor, and the Sharp Shooter. Idle players will play as the Tribe Leader, the Shaman, and the Warrior.

In addition, each of the three (3) Jungle Rumble levels will have their own unique design and lore. Here are a few concept images we’ve been working through as part of the design study:

Closing Remarks

Jungle Rumble is only the beginning. Our efforts represent a new trajectory for the project and the first of many updates that we believe will help bring health and sustainability to our community and token economy. We’ll continue to release teaser images and updates as the weeks go by, as always thank you all for your continued patience and support. Until next time.
