Continuing our new series of token, node and community stats, Tech Ambassador Aldo has again ventured out to crawl the NEO blockchain for CPX holding wallets. Getting exact numbers for each wallet means that we are able to provide more comprehensive stats than through using a block explorer / richlist alone, and this allows us to see wider trends than simple “number of nodes in a tier”. All token and node numbers have been compared to the previous stats from January 14th 2019. So let’s get cracking on those numbers!

Node distribution (excl. APEX wallet)

Node qualifying amounts (excl. APEX wallet) — March 2019

Supernode qualifying amounts…………………: 25 (+5)
Tier Genesis qualifying amounts………………..: 204 (-25)
Tier 1 qualifying amounts……………..………..: 150 (-27)
Tier 2 qualifying amounts……………..………..: 503 (+8)
Data Cloud Node (DCN) qualifying amounts…: 1129 (+42)
DCN qualifying amounts accounting for the inclusive
nature of the tier system
(DCN + ≥ T2).………: 2011 (+3)

Some additional token distribution stats

% of total supply & net difference since Jan 14th in ‘()’, Jan 14th % in ‘[]’

Tier Genesis or higher incl. APEX.....: 461,017,714 (68,1%, +2,0M) [67,8%]
Tier 1 or higher incl APEX wallet…..: 498,339,533 (73,6%, — 6,1M) [74,5%]
Tier 2 or higher incl APEX wallet…..: 550,203,091 (81,3%, — 5,1M) [82,0%]
DCN or higher incl APEX wallet.......: 589,864,390 (87,1%, — 3,3M) [87,6%]

Cumulative holdings by descending tier

To sum up the numbers we see a whopping 5 new supernode qualifying wallets. As expected the number of tier genesis and T1 qualifying wallets have dropped, which raises the question of who have absorbed these tokens. The numbers show that larger token holders (TG / supernode candidates) have been accumulating, increasing their total by 2,0 million CPX. This appears to show that those who sold their TGs over the last 1,5 months largely sold into the bids of larger holders. Also of note, both T2 and Data Cloud Node qualifying wallets show an increase compared to mid January. We note that 3,3M more CPX are currently stored in exchanges than in January — though it is hard to know how many of those are in the order books and how many have already been acquired by new holders but not withdrawn.

“Numbers have life; they’re not just symbols on paper.”

How about the community?

The community shows a steady activity level since the last stats were published, with expected spikes around the time of new releases such as the AMA, development progress updates and the latest Behind the Scenes article. Since the last update we have seen a lot of new APEX family members joining us while doing their due diligence on the project, asking a multitude of good and challenging questions — below are activity stats for the last 1,5 months:

We are closing in on testnet phase 2, and soon we will have both the complete virtual machine and our block explorer up and running. Thereafter the team will be doing thorough testing before the long awaited mainnet is officially launched in Q2. With the insights provided by the development progress updates and Jimmy’s last interview with the CM team, there’s no doubt that we have a lot to look forward to in the coming months and years!

In nodes we trust,
