Last year the community management team published weekly weather reports containing the number of wallets containing qualifying amounts for each tier (voter node tiers T1, TG and also supernode qualifying amounts). However, due to unreliable block explorers we have been unable to provide accurate numbers the last couple of months.

Today the community management team is happy to publish the first updated token and tier distribution stats of the year, thanks to one of our community testnet pioneers, Aldo Raine. He took it upon himself to write a script that crawled through the OTCGO block explorer to collect all wallets holding a minimum of 20k CPX (equivalent to a tier 3 voter node and a data cloud node). For some of the numbers we have been able to compare with numbers collected October 3rd 2018.

We were pleased to learn that through this extended bear market token holder trust in the project appears to remain strong, and the number of high tier qualifying wallets have been increasing instead of declining as some might have expected. In our opinion this shows a combination of the strength of our community and a strong belief in our team’s ability to deliver according to APEX Network’s stated vision — for which we are immensely grateful!

So let’s get cracking on those numbers!

Node distribution (excluding main team wallet) — Oct 3rd ’18 comparison in ‘()’:
Supernode qualifying amounts……..…: 20 (+1)
Tier Genesis qualifying amounts………: 229 (+27)
Tier 1 qualifying amounts……………...: 177 (-2)
Tier 2 qualifying amounts…………...…: 495 (+0)
Data Cloud Node qualifying amounts…: 1087 (N/A)
Data Cloud Node qualifying amounts accounting for the inclusive nature of the tier system (DCN + ≥ T2)………..: 2007

Node distribution DCN or above (excluding main team wallet)

Amount of total tokens held by each tier — % of total supply in ‘()’:
Main team wallet………………………………………...: 225,637,403 (33,3%)
Supernode qualifying amounts (excl main team w.)…...: 95,348,303 (14,1%)
Tier Genesis qualifying amounts………………………..: 138,032,495 (20,4%)
Tier 1 qualifying amounts……………………...………....: 45,400,849 (..6,7%)
Tier 2 qualifying amounts………………………………...: 50,865,456 (..7,5%)
Tier 3 qualifying amounts………………………………...: 90,369,115 (13,3%)
Data Cloud Node qualifying amounts (20k-69,9k).…….: 37,839,270 (..5,6%)
Non-DCN qualifying amounts (1–19,9k)………………..: 52,529,845 (..7,7%)
Exchanges………………………………………………….: 31,335,368 (..4,6%)

Amount of total tokens held by each tier — % of total supply

Some additional token distribution stats — % of total supply in ‘()’:
-Tier Genesis or higher incl. main team wallet.: 459,018,201 (67,8%)
-Tier 1 or higher incl team wallet………....…..: 504,419,050 (74,5%)
-Tier 2 or higher incl team wallet……………..: 555,284,506 (82,0%)
-Data Cloud Node or higher incl main team w.: 593,123,776 (87,6%)

Cumulative holdings through tiers

To sum up the numbers we see a significant increase in the number of token holders qualifying for a tier genesis voter node, with a minimal dropoff in number of tier 1 voter nodes. We also have an extra supernode candidate wallet, while the number of T2 qualifying token holders remains the same as in October. There is a healthy distribution of tokens among tiers, with the lion’s share of the total supply held by wallets that qualify for at least a Data Cloud Node.

How about the community?

Throughout the bear market of 2018 many Telegram groups for blockchain projects have seen declining activity levels, and this naturally applies to APEX as well. However, we still have a highly active community consisting of knowledgeable people who are ready to provide insights about the project to anyone joining us. Adding to this, bonds have formed, and there is a reason why we refer to the APEX community as the “APEX Family”. According to ICO Drops which tracks Telegram stats for blockchain projects that have ended their ICOs, the APEX Telegram group is the 14th most active group on a daily basis among around 300 different projects!

24 hour activity stats from ICO Drops

A quick glance at the roadmap reveals that APEX Network and our fellow APEXIANs have an incredibly exciting year ahead of us — we hope you will remain as committed in 2019 as you did through the bearish 2018, and look forward to sharing both large and small project updates with you along the way!

In nodes we trust,
