One day, Luqman was sitting beside a spring. A passerby asked him, “How many hours until I reach the next town?”

Luqman replied, “Keep walking.”

The man thought Luqman hadn’t heard him, so he asked again, “Didn’t you hear me? I asked, How many hours until I reach the next town?”

Again, Luqman said, “Keep walking.”

The man thought Luqman was crazy and continued on his way. After he had walked a few steps, Luqman shouted loudly, “Hey, you! In one hour, you’ll reach that town.”

The man asked, “Why didn’t you say so before?”

Luqman answered, “Because I couldn’t judge your pace until you started walking. Now that I see, I know you’ll reach the town in one hour.”

Morals:

You would not know how long or how hard a thing is or how to do it until you took the first step to do that thing. Sometimes we should just stop thinking about something and start to take action, and we will get to our goals based on our hard work and wiseness, so if we try harder while making an effort, we are more likely to succeed. The key is to start and have consistency.
