We are excited to announce the official pre-launch of APEX Ventures. Our team has been working hard to make it happen.
Our new homepage is now rolled out and you can find information on our investment strategy, philosophy and the team behind APEX Ventures at apex.ventures. We are currently in a set-up phase and going to launch officially very soon.
In the upcoming month we are going to publish several blog posts with introductions to our team members and share their experience in running companies.
The story behind the name APEX Ventures
The word apex comes from Latin. It stands for the highest or culminating point or for the most successful time. We used the word apex in context of the highest point of a mountain. Here is the reason why — we associate the life of a VC firm with mountain climbing. It can be an exciting, rewarding and even a life changing experience. It is also a great challenge, that involves tremendous risks and obstacles along the way.
Mountain climbing not only requires knowledge and experience, but also the ability to solve problems and make fast, but measured, decisions within a limited period of time.
It is not for everyone, most wouldn’t be able to withstand the hardship of rapidly changing conditions with constant pressure. Experience, knowledge and skill are crucial in mountain climbing. But most importantly, one should have the right team to face the challenge.
In high-stakes situations, the team should be decisive and clear on their actions. If one of the team members falls behind, it can be a big danger for the rest of team. Thus, it is crucial to be cohesive, honest and respectful as a team to make right decisions. Mistakes will occur, but the team should ensure that it won’t happen twice. Ultimately, one should focus on learning, but not on criticism. The success of reaching the top of the mountain depends on the ability of team members to be confident in each others actions, communicate clearly, problem solve and work cohesively.
Сlimbing a mountain can be one of life’s greatest accomplishments. The journey of reaching the peak to experience its more than panoramic views, it is truly invaluable.
We want to convey the notion that running a venture capital firm is as challenging as running a startup, and the results can be as big. We have been on both sides of the table and experienced the whole gamut of struggle and challenge from our own experience.
We established APEX Ventures to transfer our knowledge, experience and skills to entrepreneurs and ultimately build great ventures together.
