API Economy is created around the result of successful business with API product. Organizations publish their piece of software in form of API product available for the other organizations to automate their processes. This special form of Software as a Service (SaaS) is called accordingly as API as a Service, AaaS.

API as a Service inherits all the qualities of SaaS. The only significant difference is that while SaaS is provided for human interaction, AaaS is provided for software interaction, over the Internet.
