APInf has come a long way in 2 years from what started as a small experimental project, now evolved to be now evolved to be full-fledged API Management platform where more than 20 developers are working across 3 continents. At starting we tried many frameworks, failed many times and we realized we don’t have all the resources we need to build a platform. But we went ahead, celebrated every failure and made maximum out of what is already available in such a way that brings value to customers.

We made a promise to ourselves that we will keep APInf as an open source project and with open process model. We always took pride in mentioning that all the meeting minutes and documentation can be found online and is accessible everyone and we did this to remove all the barriers for our community to build. Now we start to see the results, we have a vibrant community and we are able to bring real value to customers and saving huge effort for them. I would like to share our first success story.

During API Days Nordic 2016, I met a very enthusiastic developer Amandeep Midha who was about to start working for Ernit A/S a Danish FinTech startup which was selected for Techstars 2016 program and are preparing for the journey to New York.

Amandeep discussed his vision of developing Ernit as a platform at that time and we discussed about the importance of APIs in Micro Service architecture. Amandeep then introduced me to Thomas Bjerring and we kept in touch as they were going to rigorous Techstars acceleration program.

After concluding the Techstars acceleration program and returning back to Copenhagen, we started discussions about APIs and how their developers are using them. During many discussions, we understood that Amandeep spent a lot of time explaining to their developers about APIs and how to use them. We volunteered to solve this particular problem for Ernit and deployed white-labeled APInf and boarded all their APIs with the support from Amandeep and guidance. After Ernit’s developers started using APIs through APInf and using its documentation interface, Amandeep started to spend less time on API support and focused on developing Ernit platform further. This brought in huge effort savings for Ernit as development team focused on development. Now Ernit has 105 APIs and all are using white labeled APInf. APInf is now part of Ernit’s platform offering. Our partnership is further deepened now. APInf has learned a lot from Ernit and it has been very beneficial.

I take this opportunity to thank Amandeep Midha and Thomas Bjerring for trusting APInf and giving an opportunity for us to support them. It takes lot of maturity and vision for a developer of APIs to foresee the benefits API Management could bring in mid to long term. Amandeep with his grasp of design and architecture has been strong advocate of micro services and it was great marriage where he and Thomas could see this as benefit. We hope to keep adding value to Ernit as we develop APInf further. Ernit will always be our first and great success story no matter how many success stories we will have in future.
