APIOps term was coined by Jarkko Moilanen in April 2015. Meetup group in Tampere was established in Aug 2015. Since that concept has gone through some development and focusing. Now APIOps can be formulated to be
APIOps is about automation of any step of #API design, development, onboarding, security or management. APIOps is DevOps updated to API economy.
We seek what ever means to automate APIs related activities to increase efficiency and reduce manual labour intense work. There’s a lot to automate. Take a look at “API” map created by Kin Lane and you’ll see that the lines between dots (stations) can and should be automated.
At the moment we have two APIOps local groups, one in Tampere and another in Helsinki. More groups will be established when needed. New local groups always require local “apitalist” who acts as organizer of initial meetups. If you wish to start a new APIops group in your city, contact Jarkko (@kyyberi)
Meetups are organized via meetup.com. Local groups decide the pace they have meetups. The content should be somehow related to above given definition and scope of APIOps.
Community reboot in Feb 2017
APIOps community has been hibernating for some time. Now we’ll reboot the community in Feb 2017. Tampere will reboot Feb 7th.
