A Piece on the Pizza Expo

The International Pizza Expo is touted as the largest annual gathering of pizzeria professionals in the world. With more than 90 seminars, workshops, competitions and networking events, 8,000 attendees and 450 exhibitors in more than 1,100 booths, this is a “must-attend” event for operators and suppliers alike. Last week AppFront CEO, Ori Weisler traveled from the Startup Capital, Tel Aviv to Las Vegas for the event and was joined by Mike Petery, our New York-based Head of Sales.

An International Pizza Party

Ori describes the venue as a massive, bustling room that seemed to go on forever. With the smell of pizza drifting through the air, the excitement of the trade show and a competitive energy buzzing in the tech section, our CEO loved that people traveled so far to share their products from across the globe.

I never realized how many people make up the worldwide pizza industry! There were people from Italy, Spain, Puerto Rico, Mexico, and more. They come together to form a strong community with a shared love for the food.

Mike was elated by the positive energy and the experiences

Everyone was in a good mood and happy to be there. One moment you could catch dough being thrown in the air out of the corner of your eye or be enticed to try a slice by the hint of cheese wafting through the atmosphere.

As a big fan of Brooklyn based Mike’s Hot Honey (no relation), he took every sample to their booth to add a drizzle of the chili pepper infused goodness to the slice. Once by THE Mike himself.

A Tasty Connection

When you think of Pizza, you think of a nice slice of bread and melted cheese, but there is so much more to it than that. Each individual ingredient is important. They change the texture and deepen the flavor, building on itself to form the perfect pie, much like how our service works.

Based on our name, Appfront, many people approached our booth asking, “so you make apps, right?” Providing the opportunity to explain that our ordering platforms are built for more than just the end user. The platform is constantly collecting data, allowing our customers to then communicate intuitively with their customers.

Looking Forward

The best advice Mike can give for Pizza Professionals looking to attend the event next year is simple: Come knowing what you are looking for, but keep an open mind.

If you are in the industry and have the funds to make the trip, it’s a must. The Expo serves as a great opportunity to learn about what is happening at every angle of the industry. If you are curious about ovens, dough, toppings, delivery, POS, or the latest software advancements to help you communicate effectively with your customers, you’ll walk away in a better position than you arrived.

Ori, Mike, and the rest of the Appfront team are so grateful to have had the opportunity to show off our product at the International Pizza Expo. We are looking forward to attending again next year and continuing to support the pizza industry by helping you take a larger slice out of customer engagement.

Lastly, if it’s not too cheesy…

What happens in Vegas, stays at the Pizza Expo.
