Automation Manager — find out exactly what your automation is doing

View all your Salesforce automation and export them to a more human-readable format.

When we built out the Automation Search tool we got a lot of great feedback from everyone. It lets you find specific keywords or fields across all of your automation, making it pretty easy to find out exactly which Validation Rule keeps causing that error!

We wanted to take it one step further and actually let people export the metadata for themselves, but process it for them so that it was written in a more cleaner, logical, and readable way. Enter the Automation Manager.

The same as the Automation Search tool, when you open the Automation Manager it will let you pick what types of automation you want to search across, such as:

  • Flows
  • Processes (Process Builder)
  • Apex Triggers
  • Apex Classes
  • Workflow Rules
  • Validation Rules
Select your automation types, login to your Salesforce environment, and off you go!

Once you pick what you want to search across you can log into your Salesforce environment and the tool will retrieve the key information about your automation. If you’ve used the Automation Search tool you’ll notice it’s much faster here as we don’t need to pre-load all the underlying metadata.

You’ll then be greeted with a list of all the automation in your org, and can move on to exporting them.

Easily view all the different automation and processes for a single org

In the list you’ll be able to see all your automation records showing you the Name (with a link to the record!), Salesforce Object that the record belongs to, type of automation (i.e. Trigger or Process Builder), and the Created and Last Modified dates (useful for finding who has been messing with your Flows!).

You can search across any of the fields you see, and filter the shown records by type of automation. You can then select any or all of the records you want to export.

Easily select the automation records you want to export

Once you export your automation you’ll get a CSV file with all the information you see in the table, plus a new column, Summary.

This Summary column takes all of the metadata for that given automation, and writes up a more human-readable output, meaning you can easily understand what decisions and actions are being used for every single automation.

View all the actions running on any object with your exported file

With the Automation Manager you can easily find out what your different automation are doing, and document them for yourself or your customers so everyone is on the same page.

We hope that the Automation Manager tool proves useful to you! Try it out today for free over on our website, or you can install it directly into Salesforce via the AppExchange listing.
