Company Alerts — company-wide alerts for Salesforce
Create company-wide or profile specific alerts and notices with ease
In Salesforce Lightning there are a bunch of different ways you can send out notices to your users and staff. You could use a component on a custom Homepage, setup a company-wide chatter group, or send out mass emails.
One problem in Salesforce Lightning is you can’t always be sure where a user lands when they login, as they’ll go to where they were last working. Because of this, things on your Homepage or in Chatter might get missed — and for urgent alerts or notices could get lost.
At Appitek we wanted to make a really easy way for admins to create company-wide or profile specific alerts and notices, so we’ve created the free Company Alerts app!
How does it work?
At the heart of the Company Alerts app is the Alert Manager, which allows you as an admin to create your own alerts and notices.
You can set the message, add links, set the visual appearance of the alert, and set how a user can dismiss the alert.
For important alerts you can set a timer so the alert only disappears once the time runs out!
You can then set the alert to be company-wide or pick specific profiles who should see the alert.
This way you can have multiple alerts for different teams across Salesforce.
Showing Alerts
Once you’ve created and activated your alerts, all you need to do is add a special Lightning Component to the Utility Bar of the apps your users use.
This special component is hidden from the users so the only thing they see is the alerts you’ve created.
Once you add this component, as soon as a user logs in to Salesforce into your app, they will see all the alerts or notices that you’ve set for them!
Whether they’re on a list view page, custom page, record detail page — the alerts will always be shown to them!
