#365DaysOfWriting — Day 109
Long distance travel by car can be tiring.
Travelling 2-and-a-half hours by car is quite exhausting. Have I said this before? I don’t think I have.
While the idea of sleeping in an AC car may seem relaxing, it is quite taxing on your body. Try sitting continuously in an AC car for that long and get out only at the end of your journey — there’ll be a few creaks and twinges for sure!
That’s why it’s important to step out after about 45 minutes or an hour.
Fortunately, on the route I go, we have to stop for breakfast on the way, so there is some respite. Even when you’re at work, if you have a sedentary job (like quite a few of us do) you must get up every hour and walk around. And do a few basic stretching exercises at your desk.
Feeling the sun on your body after you get out of an AC car feels great.
It almost feels like a surge of Vitamin D through your body! Then again, when you start sweating, you’d like the AC back on — but for those few seconds, you feel like Superman soaking in the sun’s powers.
The plus of a long drive though? Listening to your favourite music.
I listen to quite a few songs (on loop) on a long drive, depending on my mood. For instance, I’ve listened to the entire Mad Max: Fury Road soundtrack on a long drive (it’s about 2-and-a-half hours worth of instrumental tracks). RD Burman, Kishore Kumar, Rafi, SD Burman, Asha Bhonsle, Lata Mangeshkar… you can take as many companions with you as you wish. Then just nod off to sleep (only if you have a driver, of course) and don’t wake up until your destination arrives!
