Cowboy Bebop is a Japanese anime series, follows the adventures of a bounty hunter crew in a spaceship named Bebop with 4 main characters: Spike, Jet, Faye, Ed and the dog Ein in 2071 when human beings live in different planets. Each episode is called a session, containing an independent story, and blended with excellent music.

Things I really love about the show are its characterization and symbolism. The characters are totally different than the first impression they’ve shown. For example, the protagonist, Spike Spiegel was portrayed as a petulant, reckless and indifferent man but the truth is he suffered from the throes of his own past. Besides, one’s personality is disclosed through their action and dialogues with others. In addition, symbolism is used as a springboard to predict one’s fate, controlling the tone and pace of the show, and hiding sadness, confusion and philosophical concepts under the humorous and awesome action scenes.

I’ve tried to watch some series before but failed until Cowboy Bebop, which successfully blew my mind. My initial goal was to get familiar with Japanese but I ended up enjoying the film instead of learning language.
