The DC Extended Universe (DCEU) is the shared fictional universe and media franchise of the superhero films of characters appearing in DC Comics. This shared universe is like the original DC Universe of DC Comics.

On announcement of the universe it was commonly called “DC Cinematic Universe” by fans, like of Marvel’s universe known as Marvel Cinematic Universe. In July 2015, in another announcement it was named as “DC Extended Universe”. All films are being distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. 1. Man Of Steel (2013)

On June 2013, Man Of Steel was released by Warner Bros. Pictures as reboot of Superman film series. It was the first installment of DC Extended Universe. The film released on June 14,2013 was a box office success, grossing over $668 million worldwide. Movie got mixed reviews while critics praised visuals and action sequences.

2. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice released on March 25, 2016 by Warner Bros. Pictures as second installment to DC Extended Universe. Movie serves the reboot of Batman character in DC Extended Universe. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice received a negative reception from critics and got sudden drop into second week box office collection.

DC Extended Universe has only released two films in its shared universe. Other nine films has been announced to be the part of the DC Extended Universe and will be released in upcoming years. Unlike Marvel Cinematic Universe, DC Extended Universe has only films until now. The television series like The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, etc featuring DC characters have their own shared universe referred as “Arrowverse”.

Suicide Squad is the third movie of DC Extended Universe releasing on August 5, 2016.
